In the heart of Zona Romántica in Puerto Vallarta, Amaca Petit Hotel occupies a building that reflects two worlds coming together naturally.

The warm character of traditional Vallarta architecture and the bright simplicity of Mediterranean buildings. White facades, curved shapes, tiered terraces, balconies, tile, wood, and pergolas of natural materials give it a personality all its own.

At times, its white walls and organic lines recall small Mediterranean coastal towns; the tropical greenery, clay rooftops, and the way the building blends into the neighborhood bring you right back to Puerto Vallarta.

A place with history

Before it was Amaca, it already looked out over the bay from above

This building is no stranger to the neighborhood. For years it was known as Hotel Descanso del Sol, one of the first to bring life up to the rooftop, taking guests to the highest point to toast, cool off, and watch the sun set over Banderas Bay.

Amaca Petit Hotel inherits that pioneering spirit. We kept what always made this hotel special (its rooftop, its location, and its affection for Zona Romántica) and gave it a new life, calmer, more grown up, and more carefully looked after.

The building

You don't just walk through it:

Amaca was never meant to be a large hotel tower or a building of identical corridors. It's a 25-room boutique hotel that grows vertically, in levels, using the height of the land to create terraces, staircases, and small open spaces where before there was only a view.

Exploring it is part of the experience.

Each corner relates differently to the neighborhood, the greenery, and the sea. Nothing repeats itself from one level to the next.

Being on one of the higher parts of Zona Romántica is part of Amaca's personality. What was once hillside is now an established neighborhood, and the hotel sits on solid ground with the city and the bay in full view. As you climb through the building, the perspective changes: every level relates to its surroundings differently.

Your first encounter with the spirit of Vallarta

Our lobby is a living space, made for pausing: sitting down, reading, chatting, or taking a moment before heading out to explore Zona Romántica. It doesn't aim for the formality of a large hotel, but the warmth of a place with its own character.

Mosaic floors, wooden windows and doors, plants, and decorative pieces keep a warm aesthetic with local personality.

Amaca's vertical character is part of its charm: its levels, terraces, and corners connect through staircases, and that same architecture is what creates the views and the feeling of discovering the hotel bit by bit. By design, the property does not have an elevator.
